Don’t you find it easier sometimes to blow things, invitations, events and people off? Go home and veg on the couch, watch some Netflix and call it a day? You come home tired after a day at work, knowing there’s an invitation to something but you’re too exhausted, and create a thousand excuses as to why you don’t go.
In truth, there’s a deeper level going on. Of course, saying no to superfluous and inane things is perfectly reasonable, this is about staying connected and involved with the important moments in our lives. The invitation is to really assess why and when you blow people to the wind. Is it you’re unhappy in your job, marriage – whatever and can’t deal with too much on your plate? That’s fair. If that’s the case, then it’s time for some vitamin D for happy hormones and a good B stress complex to rev the engines. Even adding some Siberian ginseng for adrenal support is a great idea. Better yet, perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate your priorities and exactly what you want and where you want to be. Remember, it’s “worth the effort”to take the time to dig deeper and make some valuable, self-examining productive moves.
Do you have people in your life that are great when you go the extra mile for them but won’t reciprocate and make the effort for you? I think we all have relationships like that-it’s just evaluating if there is enough reciprocation to warrant the commitment. If there is – great. If not? Well, you decide…
I have an aunt we call St. Sharon. Everyone loves her! She says yes to everyone and makes time and effort for the people and invitations no matter how small or big. She’s incredible. She’s completely giving, generous and loving. Most of us aren’t hard-wired that way, however she serves as a wonderful example of being selfless, happy and full of goodness. I’ve always felt so fortunate to have her as an amazing role model in my life.
The day before yesterday, we made the extra effort for some friends we haven’t seen in three years. We discovered they were on our path however about a hundred miles out of our projected travel plans. We turned left and headed east. Seeing her and her darling daughter was absolutely “worth the effort”. I thought about what we would have missed if we hadn’t stepped it up.
In my view, we have only this time to get and make it right. Oh yeah, we can think, no worries, there are jillions of me out there on the space time continuum, however in truth, there is only one opportunity to be the best you can be for this life. This short ride round the sun.
Imagine the larger implications when you make the effort, step up your game. Watch the amazing results compound and multiply. It’s so worth it!
Cosmic sunshine to you.
